Weeping Silence has been in the metal scene since the mid-1990s and has gone through a period of musical
experimentation that contributed to the dynamic music that it has produced so far. The band came together with the release of the debut album ‘Deprived from Romance’, followed by a track in the ‘Arch Music’ compilation. Subsequently the musical direction and line-up changed considerably, and Weeping Silence sought new ideas from the doom, gothic and avant-garde genres.
Weeping Silence (WS) recorded the second album ‘End of an Era’ at Temple Studios in 2003, featuring Rachel Grech on vocals, and released it in 2008 under the Greek Record Label Sleaszy Rider Records. ‘End of an Era’ was well received and regularly gets excellent reviews across the world.
In the period 2006-2008 WS entered Temple Studios again to record the 3rd album ‘Theater of Life’, which retains many elements of the previous album, but with a faster pace and the introduction of a choir accompanied with grandeur orchestrations. The ‘Promo2009’, which features 4 songs from this recording, received good reviews. The album was released via Ravenheart Music Records in May 2011.
In the year running up to the release of ‘Theatre of Life’ WS signed a one-year Management Contract with Alkemist-Fanatix Europe to boost promotion related to the new record with labels and reviewers. The band was rewarded with good press in websites and several plays on metal radio stations. The track ‘Dark Waters’ off this album was also voted first in the EKR A-List People’s Choice Poll in July 2011.
In summer of 2010 the band played a UK tour in the midlands, namely in Bradford, Manchester and Birmingham with UK metallers To-Mera, Liquid Sky, Asomvel and Winter Storm, amongst others. In 2011 WS added the Extreme Metal Assault Summer Festival (XMA) to the concert dates. Over the years WS has appeared on-stage at several festivals and concerts, including the XMA, FEM Fest, Malta Doom Metal Fest and others. Several concerts and festivals for 2012 are in the pipeline, and organisers can get in touch with the band for booking in Europe.
We are proud to feature on the compilations ‘Des Filles et des Riffs, Vol.1’ (2010) and ‘Vol.2’ (2011) released by Savage Productions and distributed by Seasons of Mist, featuring Epica, Diabolo Swing Orchestra, Kells, To-Mera, Tristania & more.
WS entered the studio again in 2011, this time at Spine Splitter Studio, to record the most recent material, which also features male backing vocals. The latest songs are more aggressive, though with a doom-orientation. It should still, however, retain the atmosphere for which the band has become strongly associated with. The recording will be mixed and mastered by Brett Caldas Lima at Tower Studios. The next album is still in its infant stages and more information will be released in due course!
We would like to sincerely thank our friends and fans who over these many years have supported us and without whom we could never continue in this wonderful journey of passion for metal.
